Frequently asked questions
Why did you choose Bamboo over Cotton or Polyester?
Cotton is a "thirsty" fiber—it absorbs sweat and stays damp, which is a recipe for blisters and rashes inside a brace. Bamboo is naturally moisture-wicking and antimicrobial. It’s also significantly smoother than cotton, allowing the sock to glide over a sensitive, post-surgical "recovery foot" without the painful tugging associated with traditional fabrics.
What makes the PANDAFO's design "one-of-a-kind"?
We are the only sock on the market featuring a zoned padding system specifically for the SMO (Supra-Malleolar Orthosis) area. While other companies make a uniform, thin tube, we’ve engineered a slight increase in thickness that extends exactly where the SMO sits inside the AFO. This creates a "buffer zone" that eliminates the painful "bite" of the brace edges.
How long are the socks?
Our socks are designed to be extra-long. They provide enough coverage to comfortably wrap over the top of the AFO calf pad and can even stretch over the knee if needed. This ensures the plastic of the brace never makes direct contact with your skin.
How should I wash my PANDAFO socks?
To maintain the softness and integrity of the bamboo fibers, we recommend machine washing on a cold, gentle cycle and tumble drying on low heat. Avoid bleach or harsh fabric softeners, as these can break down the natural moisture-wicking properties of the bamboo.
Where do the Socks come from?
After searching globally, I landed on a specialized manufacturer in California. Working with a domestic partner allowed me to be "hands-on" with the design process, ensuring the specific padding over the SMO was made correctly.
